If you haven’t yet gone over to my Facebook Page to follow along- make sure you get there soon! We have just begun a year long challenge called Morning, Noon, and Night. It is a journey into memorizing God’s Word and intentionally choosing to live it out all day long. Here was the first day……hope you join in!
Morning:
Go ahead a read aloud your scripture from 1 Cor. 13:4-8a
Read it again aloud with your name in it.
Today’s Focus
Love is Patient.
What does being patient look like? What is patience? How can I be patient?
Well, first things first. Patience is a fruit of the Holy Spirit of God. If you are in Christ, the Holy Spirit lives in you. Therefore, patience isn’t something you have to be, but something you have to allow Him to be through you. God is LOVE- therefore every single thing that LOVE is, He is. If we seek to be patient, we are sincerely seeking to be more like Him. None of this can be done on our own.
Prayer:
Lord Jesus, Your Word says that Love is patient. Patience does not come natural to me, however, I am learning that is is part of who You are. Lord, I invite you to express Your patience through my expression on Earth today. I ask Lord that you help me die to my flesh when I want something faster, or if something doesn’t go my way. I ask that You enable me supernaturally to choose to be love instead of choosing to be impatient. I love You Lord. I need You now. In Jesus’ name I pray.
Morning Goal: Between now and the afternoon- In a situation where growing impatient and reacting out of that place would be your normal, intentionally choose love by being patient and praying over the situation. You and Jesus can do ALL things together!
Noon:
Read over your scripture verse.
Now close your eyes and see how far you can get without looking! GREAT JOB!
Today’s Focus:
Love is Patient.
The greek word used for patient in this verse is makrothymeō. This is a verb, meaning it is something you do, not something you are.
Here is the definition of the original Greek word:
Outline of Biblical Usage
-to be of a long spirit, not to lose heart
-to persevere patiently and bravely in enduring misfortunes and troubles
-to be patient in bearing the offenses and injuries of others
-to be mild and slow in avenging
-to be longsuffering, slow to anger, slow to punish
Knowing that it is not your goal to “be” patient, but instead to become a patient person, a person who does patience well, and seeing the definitions above, how does that change your perspective on what the goal is?
Prayer: Jesus, it is so good to know that You don’t set me up for failure. You aren’t axing me to become anything I can’t be in You. As I look over these definitions, I ask that you would highlight which part/s of “being” patient- as an action, as a reflection of You, that I am doing well, and the part/s that I need You to come in and teach me how to grow in. I desire to be more like You Jesus. Help me! In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
Afternoon goal: As you and Jesus have decided which part of being patience is hard for you, intentionally be aware of the opportunity that He gives you this afternoon to grow in this particular area. Pray ahead of time that He will help you see it, and choose to be love instead of impatient! REMEMBER, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE WITH HIM!

Night:
Read over your scripture aloud.
Read it again with your name in it.
Today’s Focus:
Love is Patient.
Take some time to reflect on how you deliberately chose to be patient when you wanted to respond differently. How did that change the way things played out? How did that change your emotional state? Did you try to do this in your own power or with God’s help? How did that go? If you can, write down the small steps you made for big change.
Lord Jesus, I thank You for loving me. I thank You for choosing Me to share Your love to the world. Today was a struggle to choose patience, but I am confident that ALL things are possible with You. I want to increase the amount I choose to lean on and trust in You. Please continue you to teach me, lead, me a guide me in becoming more and more like You. I love you Lord, Amen!
As you lay down tonight, begin contemplating tomorrow’s focus- Love is Kind.
